A Prayer to Hermes for Safe Travel

Hermes was often evoked and prayed to in ancient times before venturing on a perilous journey. Hermes, being the Messenger of the Gods with wings on his feet, is the god who can get us to our destination more safely and quickly. But it’s important to connect with Him on a spiritual level, to show our intent. For this purpose, you can use the following prayer:

Swift and gallant Messenger of Gods

You meet our rulers in celestial skies

Then circle the Earth in the blink of an eye

To bring us mortals their message divine 

To you I pray oh favored Hermes

To safeguard this path that I must cross

A fair distance and I’m at a loss

For who knows the dangers that I could face

Enemies that pray for my disgrace

If not for you and your sword of gold

That killed Argos, so I’m told

And Medusa through Perseus bold

Bringing peace to hearts of war 

I deeply pray that you will be 

With unsheathed sword in front of me

Until I’ve reached my destined place

Blessed by you with newfound grace
